The launch date for BYD Seal confirmed for India

The introduction of the BYD Seal in India took place during the Auto Expo 2023. Now, BYD has officially announced that this all-electric sedan will hit the Indian market on March 5, 2024. The Seal will be BYD's third product offering in India, following the BYD e6 MPV and the BYD Atto 3 SUV.

Here’s what the BYD Seal will bring to the Indian market.

Design Updates

The BYD Seal showcases a sleek aerodynamic design complemented by distinctive and unconventional design features. At the front, it presents a U-shaped headlight cluster adorned with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) positioned at the lower section. Meanwhile, the rear is characterized by interconnected all-LED taillights featuring a dot matrix LED pattern. Both the front and rear bumpers incorporate aerodynamic accents, lending the vehicle a moderately sporty aesthetic.

When viewed from the side, the BYD Seal showcases a gracefully sloping roofline that seamlessly transitions into a compact rear section, evoking the sleek profile of a fastback. It is supported by 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, emphasizing its dynamic stance. Additionally, the vehicle boasts an impressive air drag coefficient of 0.219, contributing to its aerodynamic efficiency.

New CTB (Cell To Body) Technology

The BYD Seal uses CTB (Cell to Body) technology, integrating the battery pack directly into the vehicle's frame. This innovative approach enhances the sedan's handling and driving dynamics significantly. Utilizing the e-Platform 3.0, the same foundation as the Atto 3 electric SUV, ensures seamless integration and optimized performance across both vehicles.

Interior Updates

When it comes to the interior, the BYD Seal features a dual-tone dashboard theme complemented by sporty seats. The standout feature inside is its expansive 15.6-inch rotational touchscreen infotainment system, surpassing the size of those found in the Atto 3 and e6 MPV models. Also, it contains a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, which enhances the auditory experience for occupants.

Other features

Other exclusive amenities found on the global-spec Seal comprise a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat featuring memory function, a 6-way electrically adjustable co-drivers seat, ventilated and heated front seats, as well as dual-zone AC for enhanced comfort.

The Seal also incorporates a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, enabling the utilization of the vehicle's stored energy to power external devices.

The safety features include seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, and a comprehensive suite of ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane change and departure assist, and automatic emergency braking.

Competitors

In India, the BYD Seal is anticipated to have a starting price of approximately Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a competitor to models like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, it offers a more budget-friendly option compared to the BMW i4.
