The Tata Nexon underwent a significant makeover in September 2023, showcasing fresh design elements, plenty of new features, and expanding transmission choices.

 

 

Interestingly, at the time of launch, Tata excluded the Dark edition from the updated Nexon’s lineup, a variant that was previously available with its predecessor. However, reports circulating online suggest that the updated Tata Nexon will soon include the Dark edition, with leaked information on the upcoming variants.

 

Expected Variant Details

 

As per the details available, Tata will introduce the Dark edition of the Nexon in both petrol and diesel variants. Here’s a breakdown of the variants that will soon feature the Dark edition.

As you can see in these tables, the Dark edition is going to be available for the top two variant levels, namely, Creative and Fearless.

 

The Nexon Dark edition is expected to exhibit the familiar Oberon Black exterior shade seen in the Dark edition of the updated Tata Harrier and Safari. On the outside, it will get blacked-out alloy wheels, while inside, the Nexon Dark will feature an all-black dashboard and black leatherette seat upholstery.

 

Similar Features

 

There are no alterations in the feature lineup of the Nexon is expected upon the arrival of the Dark edition. Tata has enhanced the standard Nexon with amenities including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, automatic air conditioning, ventilated front seats, cruise control, and paddle shifters.

 

The safety offerings comprise six airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring. Recently, the Nexon facelift secured a comprehensive 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test.

 

Powertrain Details

 

 

The Tata Nexon offers two powertrain choices: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 120 PS / 170 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 115 PS / 260 Nm. Regarding the variants set to receive the Dark edition treatment, the petrol engine offers three transmission options: a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Meanwhile, the diesel engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AMT.

 

Expected Price

 

It is expected that the Dark edition of the Tata Nexon will come with an additional cost of Rs 30,000 compared to the standard variants. The regular Nexon is priced between Rs 8.15 lakh and Rs 15.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

 

Competitors

 

It competes with the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
