The festive season in India witnesses multiple manufacturers across the industry introduce various special and limited editions of their models. Joining the lineup is Mini with the launch of Mini Countryman Shadow edition, a variant that is based on the Countryman Cooper S JCW model. With a price tag of Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), only 24 units of this compact luxury SUV are available.

 

What are the changes in the exterior?

Being a limited edition model, the Countryman Shadow edition has various distinctive features. These include an exclusive all-black exterior paint option, complemented by a bronze finish on the ORVMs and roof. Striking decals adorn the bonnet and front fenders, adding to its unique character. Additionally, the Mini is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and ‘Shadow’ edition decals on the roof above the C-pillar.

 

All badges, including the 'Countryman' insignia, are represented with an elegant black finish. Embodying the essence of the JCW (John Cooper Works) edition, it showcases a sporty stance enhanced by the inclusion of a JCW aerodynamics kit.

 

What are the updates on the Inside?

 

On the inside, the Mini Countryman Shadow edition retains the tan leather upholstery characteristic of the SUV. however, to reflect its limited edition nature, it features distinctive contrast silver piping. Adding to this exclusive appeal, the edition is equipped with JCW-specific metal pedals and a steering wheel finished in luxurious Nappa leather.

 

The Countryman Shadow edition comes loaded with features. It includes LED ambient lighting from Mini's Excitement Pack, along with puddle lamps. The SUV is also equipped with a panoramic glass roof, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a conveniently powered tailgate, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, and cruise control. 

 

Safety is paramount, with six airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, a reversing camera, and cornering brake control forming part of its comprehensive safety suite.

 

Performance

The Mini Countryman Shadow edition is powered by a single 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 181PS and 280Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), Mini claims that this 5-door crossover SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 7.5 seconds. It offers two distinct drive modes: Sport and Green.

 

Competitors

 

While the 5-door limited edition Mini Countryman doesn't have a direct competitor, it can be viewed as a viable option alongside models like the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, Volvo XC40, and Audi Q3.
