The landscape of premium electric cars in India has recently expanded with the introduction of the BYD Seal, an electric sedan. Bookings for this innovative EV have been available since February 27, both online and at BYD's dealerships, requiring a deposit of Rs 1 lakh. The Seal is offered in three distinct variants: Dynamic Range, Premium Range, and Performance, providing customers with a diverse range of options from which they can choose.

The Seal offers a total of three powertrain options and two battery pack choices, providing both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.


The smaller battery pack enables 110 kW DC fast charging, whereas the larger one can accommodate charging speeds of up to 150 kW.


Technology Updates



Included within the electric sedan are features such as a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, front seats with both heating and ventilation capabilities, and a panoramic glass roof.


Its safety features include eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a comprehensive array of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functionalities, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking.


Benefits of Advance Booking

BYD has revealed that customers reserving the Seal EV by March 31, 2024, will receive the following incentives: a home-installed 7 kW charger, a portable 3 kW charging box, a vehicle-to-load power supply unit, six years of roadside assistance, and one complimentary inspection service. Bookings for the EV are open for Rs 1.25 lakh, with deliveries anticipated to commence shortly.


Warranty Details

The Seal EV comes with an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty for the battery pack, an 8-year/1.5 lakh km warranty for the electric motor and motor controller, and a 6-year/1.5 lakh km warranty for various other battery-related modules.



Competing with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo XC40 Recharge, the BYD Seal also presents itself as a cost-effective alternative to the BMW i4.
