When the Jaguar I-Pace was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show 2018, it created ripples of sorts in the Global Auto Market. And in living up to the hype, the all-electric SUV has now managed to ace the number game in Q2 for Pure Electric Vehicle Sales in the United Kingdom. In addition to being the top-selling pure electric vehicle in the country, the Jaguar I-Pace also takes third spot overall, after the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV and the BMW i3, as far as UK’s complete plug-in car sales are concerned.
The Jaguar I-Pace was launched only in 2018 and within less than one year the car has become the top-selling pure electric vehicle in the UK, which also happens to be its home ground. Remarkably, the electric SUV also ranks first in the pure electric vehicle sales chart in the UK for the first half of this year (from January to June 2019). From April to June alone, Jaguar sold 937 units of the I-Pace in the UK, thereby making it the top- among EVs in the country.
But it isn’t sales alone where the Jaguar I-Pace manages to impress. The state-of-the-art SUV has bagged several other accolades since its launch, including 66 global awards such as the 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year, World Green Car of the year for 2019, European Car of the Year, and German, Norwegian and UK Car of the Year.
The Jaguar I-Pace features electric motors mounted on each axle and a 90kWh battery, made up from 432 lithium-ion cells. Its battery pack delivers a range of 470 km (WLTP) and can charge from 0-80% in 40 minutes using a 100 kW DC charger. The all-electric SUV further features sleek LED headlamps, a honeycomb pattern grille and a wide central air dam along with a fitting set of alloys and turn light integrated ORVMs. On the inside, it boasts mobile device charging options, with three 12V sockets, six USB ports, and one HDMI/HML port along with a compelling dual-screen InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. It also includes a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot and slots for tablets and laptops under the rear seats. The Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2020.
